Today was busy!! We started our morning by talking to Kenzie and grandma. Kenzie was a bit sad because she is really starting to miss us. Then we were off to the church, I got to play while mommy did some more stuff. We went to one of the houses of the families we have been getting to know this week that live in the community. The grandma is my friend named Doris and so I was so excited to see her again. It was also that place with the birds that love me!!! I was so thrilled to see them again, I think they felt the same way.
There was a little boy there around my age. See I have learned this week that just because we don’t speak the same language doesn’t mean we can’t communicate or play.
We made up a racing game where we each had different cars or scooters (or even a toy horse) and we would race up and down the house….and yell BEEP BEEP at each other if we were close. We laughed and thought it was so fun. I liked seeing their house and playing there, I was a bit sad to leave.
Then we went into Antigua. We went to my favourite coffee shop for a smoothie, then went to the market. It’s a really cool place, people sell all sorts of stuff and try and get you to buy stuff. I tried this thing called ‘bargaining’ and scored me and my sister a headband each. I got a bracelet too but then proceeded to lose it in the streets of Cuidad Veja later. We went to my favourite spot for lunch, it is the place with a park and the best lattes for my mommy (they make her a nicer mommy)
From there a new friend Michelle picked us up and we got to visit with her. She does mission work and lives full-time in Guatemala from is originally from Florida-my favourite place in the world so it was awesome. She and mommy got to visit and I passed out because man oh man this trip is exhausting! It was a nice little nap to refresh except I woke up grumpy and growled at people for about 10 minutes before I became a nice little girl again. Then we met our friend Luis at the church again and did some more stuff there.
After that, we began a hunt for daddy’s favourite coffee to bring home. What we have learned is that some machines don’t like Canadian credit cards, so we can only buy things from places that have these special machines that like them. We went to 3 stores to find daddy’s coffee, it took forever!! He better enjoy this coffee after all that work I put into getting it. I also got a free drink at a cafe because mommy bought some more coffee from them. Then it was dinner and Luis asked if we wanted to go to this cool restaurant. It was up a BIG hill and once we got up there, we were all the way above Antigua, it was beautiful. I danced and danced around. There were sculptures everywhere so I ran around visit them all. We then went into the restaurant which was so beautiful and fancy-definitely not a place for a monkey like me. We ordered our food and I ordered this yummy Guatemalan drink that made me crazy and hyper. Really added to the fun of being in a fancy restaurant. The food was SO good I actually ate it all!! I know I gave my mom the impression that I may actually eat my meals from now on? Dont worry this was a one-off. I sang and pretended I was a T-rex the entire way home, scaring people as we drove by them…mommy was not impressed for some reason?
After dinner we came home and talked to some people on facetime and showered (again trying not to sing and drink the water again….such a hassle!) and now we are getting ready for tomorrow. I am so so sooo excited because we got invited to go swimming with one of my new friends. I am so excited I packed my bag already! Tomorrow is our last full day in Guatemala, which is sad but I also miss Daddy and Kenzie (and maybe even Molson too) so Im excited to go home too. We will be back though, hopefully with daddy and kenzie and our new baby once they are born!
